TC Helicon MP-75 - Modern Performance Vocal Microphone

The The TC Helicon MP-75 Vocal Microphone has been designed specifically as a live vocal microphone with a heavy bias on live performance and features a dedicated button for triggering effects on TC Helicon's acclaimed vocal FX pedals, such as the TC Helicon Voice Live and TC Helicon Voicelive 2.

On the technical side, the TC Helicon MP75 vocal microphone features off-axis noise rejection, feedback suppression and noise reduction thanks to its cleverly designed Lismer™ capsule which features an anti-pop grille design and internal anti-shock suspension mount. The dual material diaphragm has been meticulously designed with light and rigid sections for an optimal high frequency response. The super-cardioid pattern employed by the MP-75 is the same as you would find in the world acclaimed Shure Beta 58 and Sennheiser ME 65, and delivers optimal performance when singing directly into the top of the microphone from close range. The super-cardioid pattern also provides maximum rejection of any sound arriving at the sides and base of the capsule thus reducing the chances of feedback.

The TC Helicon MP-75 marks a complete about-turn in microphone design and is designed to deliver studio quality vocals and effects on live on stage, whereas historically microphones have been designed to capture live performances in the studio. The simple one-touch multi-purpose thumb button is a real ground-breaking concept in the MP-75's design and can be used with any of the Voicelive or Voicetone pedals pedals that features a USB port to put complete control of your vocal effects quite literally at your fingertips.

A short review of the TC Helicon MP-75 Vocal Microphone:

Even if you don't own a TC Helicon pedal, the MP-75's highly impressive audio quality and near indestructible durability make it the perfect live vocal microphone for clubs, bars, venues and travelling performers. The MP 75's Lismer™ capsule is truly designed for stage use and optimised to reduce feedback and deliver a great vocal even when used pressed up against the mouth. It is therefore ideal for modern aggressive singing styles synonymous with rock singers, rappers and MC's as well as more orthodox vocalists looking for a pristine signal.

TC Helicon MP-75 Vocal Microphone FAQ:

Why use a dynamic mic?

Dynamic microphones are effectively speakers in reverse, employing a diaphragm (cone) and a magnet to produce an electrical signal when moved by sound. A dynamic mic is far less responsive than condenser microphone and therefore it is possible to reject more background noise and reduce the chances of a feedback being caused by the vocal playing out through the speakers and back into the microphone in an infinite loop.

What is a super-cardioid pattern?

The diaphragm within a microphone can be designed to focus, in varying concentrations, toward the front. The super-cardioid pattern concentrates heavily on the front (described as “on axis”) and rejects a large amount of sound from the side and almost all sound from the rear (these areas are known as “off axis”). In conjunction with the design of the body, the capsule and the direction the diaphragm is facing, the MP-75 is designed to respond almost entirely from the top/front.
