Wow! I am sooo excited! I wanted to own a BASS VI for years and I could not afford the exorbitant prices on the second-hand market. When the Pawn shop version came out I was slightly disappointed, as they took away the famous "bass strangle switch," which to me is an essential part of the charm of this beautiful instrument. It lets you switch this beautiful beast from deep, growling bass to a deeply-voiced GUITAR sound, and it being tuned E to e you can either play it as a bass or as a deep-tuned guitar. This instrument lets you choose what voicing you need and I found myself recording some demos with both bass and guitars standing by, tuned and ready for recording, yet I found myself playing ALL of the tracks on the BASS VI! If you are playing the bass line and suddenly have a great idea for a guitar track, you wont even have to put this instrument down to get another one, just flick the "strangle" switch and go on playing. I have wanted this one for years, and now that I actually have one, I see how right I was all the time! It is an indispensable oddity and absolutely has great punch as a bass as well as a guitar...you will find yourself playing endless & "tic-tac" basslines in country and rockabilly styles, add some spring reverb and you will find yourself in surf heaven or just simply confuse people by playing basslines and adding "impossibly high-pitched" notes or even chords and watch bass players scratch their heads when they hear your music! This necessary oddity is finally available again at a really great price, affordable for nearly everyone. GET THIS INSTRUMENT! Trust me, you will find yourself playing endless hours discovering the rich tonalities this instrument covers, much wider in spectrum than a regular bass ever could, much deeper and tonally more dense and intricate than any guitar can deliver, a MUST-HAVE! Thanks to everyone at FENDER and SQUIER for making this dream come true and giving a new generation of musicians the means to discover it!
