The 5150 has been the heart of the classic Van Halen Brown Sound for decades and has always relied on the proven recipe of a fully charged 12AX7 preamp combined with a powerful Class A/B power amplifier with four 6L6 tubes. With the 5150IIIS 100S EL34, the now independent guitar idol now presents the 3-channel amplifier classic par excellence with the rather British-style sound of a pure EL34 power amplifier for refreshing sounds with the striking 5150 character. Last but not least, the top was given a striking face-lifting in black and gold EVH stripe design.
The 3-channel structure of the 5150IIIS 100S EL34 offers a quite flexible sound and satisfies every wish from clear cleans to shocking high gain sound. The revised Channel 1 forms the basis for clean sounds and delivers an even clearer sound image with organic compression, while Channels 2 and 3 benefit from the immense gain reserves of the 12AX7 octet and the saturating character of the EL34 tubes, providing a wide range of crunch and lead sounds;
All 3 channels not only have separate control panels for the 3-band equalizer, but also separate presence knobs to adjust the high treble in the output stage. The 5150's famous resonance circuitry can also be adjusted for all 3 channels on the rear and provides the appropriate shaping of the low-end frequency range.
On the rear the EVH5150IIIS EL34 convinces with its serial effect loop, which is the ideal slot between preamp and power amplifier for reverb and delay effects. With the included 4-button footswitch, not only can all 3 channels be selected directly, but also the effect loop can be switched on or off. Unlike traditional 5150 heads with fixed bias as the hallmark of the sound, the 5150IIIS now also offers the ability to make bias corrections using the adjustment wheel on the rear of the amp.
