An optimal and constant humidity between 40 and 50% is very important for wood instruments. If the humidity is too low, the curvature of the top decreases, the bridge warps and cracks appear in the top. If the humidity is too high, the curvature of the top and back increases, damage to the varnish occurs and the instrument loses its sound.
To protect the instrument from damage and to avoid permanent visits to the workshop, the use of the Boveda humidity management offers the optimal solution. It stabilizes the humidity in the instrument case and keeps it constant at approx. 49%. In doing so, Boveda releases pure water molecules in and around instruments, which flow in and out of the patented membrane as required. The salt-based solution of pure water and natural salts are sealed in the membrane to prevent leakage and reliably control the release of water molecules as required. In addition, the humidity management system is easy to use. It can be easily stored in the protective fabric holder in the instrument case. To achieve the best effect, the instrument case should always be well closed, whether the instrument is in the case or not.
Depending on the instrument case, season and climate, Boveda Humidity Management has a shelf life of 2 - 6 months.
