Das Tonabnehmer-Paar 490R und 490T basiert auf dem originalen P.A.F.-Design mit zwei bedeutenden Unterschieden. Zu einen sind beide Typen 4-adrig und damit flexibel zu verschalten. Zum anderen sind sie vollständig gewachst, um auch bei hohen Verstärkerleistungen unerwünschter Mikrofonie wirkungsvoll entgegenzuwirken.

Der 490R bietet etwas kräftigere obere Mitte und ist damit ein "heißer" als ein P.A.F. Gut in Kombination mit 490T, 498T oder 500T
