The MOTU M2 is a studio-quality 2 in / 2 out USB-C audio interface that allows you to create high-quality vocal, instrumental or other recordings. No matter if Mac, PC or iOS device - the M2 works with various devices/computers as well as with all common DAWs. Speaking of DAWs: a Performer Lite 10 and Ableton Live Lite 10 software is included to enable you to edit your own recordings and produce music directly.
The USB-C interface offers two channels including a Hi-Z feature so that electric guitars can be connected directly. They also have the necessary 48V phantom power for condenser microphones and a practical display for monitoring the input and output signal. The ESS Sabre32 Ultra DAC technology ensures crystal-clear results that can be heard and need not hide from professional recordings. You also benefit from extremely low latency for precise and clocked recordings. Recording is in 24-bit, 192kHz maximum, while the RCA and TRS outputs are available for monitoring. The MIDI-capable device is powered via USB-C.
A free and extensive sound library with 6GB of loops, samples and phrases completes the overall picture of the MOTU M2 audio interface.
I have this interface for 6 months now, use it for tracking guitars and vocals.
The build quality. It's excellent.
All the knobs, buttons feel great to the touch. No wobble or any suspected weak points. The housing is metal which also provides great protection and weight to the device.
The screen, which displays audio metering is my favourite part but also the part I might have worried about the most in terms of failure, but no problems there so far.
The only little con with it and I believe it's only a first production run problem, but the gain knob on input one has a slight crackle when adjusting it between 9 O'Clock and 12 O'Clock. It's very minor and wouldn't warrant a return and exhange, for me personally. This is not present on input 2.
Overall, its a great interface and one that will spend years in my studio due to its build and sound quality.
I highly recommend it!
Worth the money just for the DACs alone. Have bought this to work with at home when i'm away from the studio and the sound quality is excellent. The loopback function is also a great addition to use for recording samples from youtube etc without having to mess around with Soundflower and create aggregate devices etc. Hightly recommended as a travel unit and for mixing on headphones. It doesn't have any monitor controls (mono, mono sum, dim, cut etc) so it's not a studio piece but the quality of the converters are ridiculously good at this price!
Excellent product and well worth the wait due to the pandemic. Build quality is excellent and premium-looking. Funtion-wise, it has everything I need. It is better than most audio-interfaces because of the built-in screen that help you monitor gain levels. The knobs turn smoothly for easy adjustments. When I tested the device, it had very little to no background noise. As far as I'm concerned, the quality of recording with this interface far exceeds my expectation.
One very happy customer here!
Really impressed by how good it sounds and how stable it runs in my windows laptop. Basically everything I need at current stage as a guitar player wanting to use software amp modelers and record some demos. Great driver makes it possible to run at a really low latency.
