The Studiologic SL88 Studio is a master keyboard with 88 weighted keys with hammer action. It offers a wide range of features and intuitive operation, creating the feel of a real concert grand piano. USB and MIDI interface create flexible connectivity: the keyboard controller integrates easily with audio computer and DAW. Control options, for example for external effects, are provided by a total of three joysticks and four pedal connections. The Magnetic Rail System also allows the mounting of a music stand or a storage surface for laptop, tablet and handwritten notes.
With the TP/100LR, a high-quality Fatar keyboard is used in the Studiologic SL88 Studio. Compared to the SL88 Grand, this gradually weighted hammer action keyboard is characterized by its particularly low weight. Operation via 6-way joystick as well as three additional programmable joystick controllers offer full control over all functions at all times. Thanks to the integrated color display, it is also particularly easy to always keep track of all settings.
Studiologic SL-88 Studio 88-Note Keyboard Controller (Black)I tried a handful of 88 note weighted keyboards in a shop just recently and this is the one that stuck in my mind for the best feel. Some of the controllers I tried were twice the price of this one and I sampled cheaper ones too, but price wasn't an issue, "key-bed feel" was top of the list for me and this one won.
I found the key release a bit spongy/heavy during the first week, but I'd played a Roland for approx 20 years, so change was always going to feel different, but I've adapted to it nicely now and the dynamics whilst playing piano are great. Probably the best budget 88 note weighted controller on the market.
Bought to use in a live rig, chosen due to small size, light weight, but still solid construction.
Keybed is fine, depends what you are uses to. It's quite fast, not too light, a little spongy, but as good as any other general fake piano action. I prefer the Kawai real wood key action, but it weighs a tonne and I decided to get this and save my back.
Great for it's intended purpose.
Simple - just add this to a computer running Synthogy American Steinway and you have one of the best home piano set ups for less than £500. I found the key bed a little heavy and stiff at first but with a short amount of usage I settled in fine. Now going onto my Yamaha and Norde keyboards they both seam overly light!
Integration with Mixface was straightforward allowing endless possibilities. Although bought for studio usage I can see how given he flexibility of its programming potential and tank like construction would make this a tremendous road keyboard.
