Loomis, who integrates complex chords as well as extremely fast leadlines into his playing, needed a transparent display and defined attack even with extreme drop-tunings and strong distortion. By using Alnico V magnets and an adapted preamp design it was possible to combine these wishes with a tight bass reproduction, which cannot be distinguished from a passive pickup, so that every detail of the game is preserved, but the tone is always rich and with pronounced sustain.
