With the Gibson Alex Lifeson ES-Les Paul Classic White, the Gibson Memphis Division presents a semi-acoustic electric guitar developed in close cooperation with the Rush guitarist. Accordingly, the Signature electric guitar in the classic Les Paul Singlecut design offers a semi-hollow body with mahogany center block and a glued mahogany neck with a comfortable "Rounded C" profile, while Gibson MHS humbuckers on the amplifier promise authentic vintage sounds.
The construction of the Les Paul combines elements of classical semi-acoustic electric guitars with the well-known Les Paul design. Accordingly, the Signature electric guitar has a three-layer maple laminate body, the back and sides of which are connected by a mahogany center block to suppress unwanted feedback. In addition, thanks to the "Rounded C" profile, the glued mahogany neck offers a particularly comfortable playability that allows every note between the 22 frets of the Richlite fingerboard to slip easily out of your hand.
Alex Lifeson chose two Gibson MHS humbuckers for his Signature ES-Les Paul in the neck and bridge position. These Memphis Historic Spec pickups were developed after detailed analyses of the best PAF humbuckers from the golden era of guitar making and are closer to the sound of those sought-after vintage originals than any pickup before. At the amplifier they deliver a particularly warm sound with fundamental basses, vocal mids and silky highs, whose airy dynamics skilfully capture the woody timbre of the semi-acoustic construction.
The hardware equipment of the Gibson Alex Lifeson ES-Les Paul also convinces with classic looks and modern detail solutions. The strings are held on the body by a light-weight aluminium stopbar and guided over a Gibson ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, whose titanium string riders support sustain and sound development. After 24.75" scale length (628 mm), the strings at the headstock first run over a bone saddle before they meet the precise Grover Rotomatic tuners with historically correct Milk Bottle cases.
