Gibson Les Paul '50s Standard Faded Honey BurstI play since 1960 and used to have about 50 and still own around 25 top guitars, most of them Les Pauls, from €500 to €3000. This one is arguably the most cost effective, together with €600 2014 LPJ and €1400 2015 LP Standard or €900 Midtown. The sound is very open and dynamic and 50s in a good way so that with a minimal valve overdrive in my (all tube) combo I get fabulous jazz, blues, funk and rock sounds. Very versatile and can probably play even metal. I prefer redish and bluish finishes, yet this faded honey looks fine. The woods are not perfect, yet technically the guitar sounds as Les Paul should, so to get a better 50s LP guitar you'll have to pay €6000 or more. Summary: if you want a 50s Les Paul, this is it. preferably CHOOSE the actual guitar in a store. This is worth extra €200-300!
