BCR32

USB/MIDI controller with Zaquencer and 32 encoders

The Behringer BCR32 combines a highly customisable USB/MIDI controller with an integrated 32-step Zaquencer. With 32 freely assignable encoders, 20 programmable buttons, CV/Gate sockets and extensive MIDI connectivity, it is suitable for DAWs, software instruments, synthesisers and hybrid hardware set-ups.

Particularly interesting is the combination of a classic controller interface and standalone sequencing, allowing the BCR32 to be used flexibly in both studio and live set-ups.

32 encoders for direct access to parameters

The BCR32 features 32 multi-purpose encoders that can be freely assigned to MIDI parameters. Four virtual groups further expand the number of available assignments.

Eight encoders also support a dual mode with a push function. This allows you, for example, to control filters, effects, volume levels or software parameters directly, without having to constantly use a mouse or trackpad.

Freely programmable MIDI control

There are also 20 programmable buttons available. These can be assigned to functions such as Note On/Off, Control Change, Programme Change, MMC or SysEx data, amongst others.

All controls can be assigned manually or via a learn mode. This allows the controller to be customised for use with different DAWs, virtual instruments or hardware synthesisers.

Integrated 4-track Zaquencer

The integrated Zaquencer from ZAQ Audio supports up to 32 steps and four tracks. It supports both monophonic and polyphonic note tracks, as well as drum tracks.

Up to 192 patterns, each with four tracks, can be saved. Each track also features two independent MIDI controls for Programme Change, Aftertouch, Pitch Bend and Control Changes.

CV/Gate for analogue synthesisers

Four CV/Gate and Sync sockets enable direct control of suitable synthesisers, drum machines and other analogue devices.

This means the BCR32 can not only be integrated into pure MIDI set-ups, but also used as a link between a DAW, MIDI hardware and analogue or modular instruments.

MIDI interface built in

On the MIDI side, there is one MIDI input and two MIDI outputs. This allows the BCR32 to function additionally as a USB-to-MIDI interface.

A merge function on the MIDI input also allows further controllers and MIDI devices to be combined or cascaded.

OLED and LED feedback for a clearer overview

The integrated OLED display shows parameters and functions directly on the unit. Multi-coloured LEDs provide additional visual feedback on the status of the controls.

This is particularly helpful with extensive MIDI mappings, as important statuses remain visible directly on the hardware.

Footswitches and mobile setup

Two freely assignable footswitch connections enable functions to be triggered whilst playing or performing without the need for manual operation.

The BCR32 is powered via USB and operates using a class-compliant MIDI/USB protocol. It is also designed for use with an Apple iPad via a suitable USB camera adapter.

Useful information for audio production

The BCR32 processes MIDI and control signals, not actual audio signals.

It can nevertheless be useful for high-quality music production, as it allows for precise, tactile control of synthesisers, software instruments and effects. The actual audio quality continues to depend on the audio interface, DAC, converters, monitors or headphones used, and the rest of the signal chain.
