Record 16 channels simultaneously – from a drum kit to a full band

The Tascam US 16x08 is a USB audio interface for recording set-ups that require more than just a few inputs. With a total of 16 analogue inputs and 8 outputs, it allows you to record entire bands, drum kits, rehearsal rooms or live sessions simultaneously. Eight XLR microphone inputs with phantom power are available for vocals and microphones, whilst 8 additional line inputs can record synthesisers, keyboards, drum machines or external preamps. Two of the inputs are designed as instrument inputs and allow direct connection of a guitar or bass.

Ultra HDDA preamps for clean recordings

The eight integrated Ultra HDDA microphone preamps ensure a low-noise and transparent signal. With a self-noise level of just −125 dBu and up to 56 dB of gain, they are suitable for both dynamic and condenser microphones. The discrete circuitry is derived from professional Tascam recorders used in the broadcast and film industries. This results in clean recordings with a wide dynamic range and natural detail reproduction.

DSP mixer for latency-free monitoring

Every millisecond counts during recording. That is why the US 16x08 features an integrated DSP mixer that processes the monitoring signal directly within the interface. Musicians hear their signal with virtually no delay and can access a 4-band equaliser and a compressor per channel even whilst recording. For monitoring, the interface offers an adjustable headphone output on the front panel as well as eight balanced line outputs for monitors and other monitoring setups.

DSP Mixer software for full control

The DSP Mixer software allows you to conveniently manage monitoring, routing and signal processing. Each input channel features a 4-band equaliser and a compressor, which are processed directly on the integrated BlackFin DSP processor. This enables the creation of customised monitor mixes with low latency, without placing any additional strain on the computer’s processing power. The software allows for straightforward setup of the interface and can be installed before the device is connected via USB.

24-bit / 96 kHz for modern productions

The audio interface supports recording at up to 24-bit and 96 kHz. Whether it’s vocals, acoustic guitar, electronic drums or full band productions, the US 16x08 delivers the resolution needed for professional results. The USB 2.0 connection enables the simultaneous transfer of 16 inputs and 8 outputs between the interface and the computer.

Flexible in the studio and usable without a computer

As well as operating as a USB audio interface, the device can also be used as a standalone microphone preamp. In standalone mode , the signals from the microphone inputs are routed directly to the outputs. This is particularly useful for existing studio setups with additional audio interfaces, digital recorders or mixing desks.

MIDI, iPad and DAW integration

Master keyboards, synthesisers and other MIDI devices can be connected directly via the integrated MIDI ports. Thanks to USB Audio Class Compliance 2.0 , the interface also works with compatible iOS devices such as the iPad. The US 16x08 has been tested with numerous DAWs, including Cubase, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Studio One, Sonar and GarageBand.

Designed for desktop and rack use

The housing has been designed for comfortable use on a desk, and its bevelled design allows quick access to the controls. Those integrating their setup into a studio rack can use the included rack brackets to mount the interface securely.
