The Equator D5 MKII Active 2-way Studio Monitor features an all wood cabinet, including a wood front baffle for optimum performance. The D5 has a fully extended 1.75" perfectly tuned front port, providing superior and accurate extended low-end response. The position of the port on the front baffle means that the D5's can be positioned close to a wall with no fear of the low-end being choked.
Guitars, voices, strings, horns, & reverb trails are very clearly and accurately portrayed and any mid-range anomalies in the source material can be easily determined and addressed. The matched transducer output esnures that mid-range mix elements can be positioned in the stereo field without the fear of being misplaced. The D5's are optimally pre-set and voiced for ideal instrument translation.
The main features of the Equator D5 MKII Active 2-way Studio Monitor include:
Out of the box, awful... 200 hours later... Never heard some thing better, in this price field. I'm using them for near field music listening (1 m. distance) in a small office room (10 sq meter).
Acoustics instruments and voices are sounding in a way you believe at it without thinking. Speed, accuracy, power ! These little boxes are able to punch strong.
Compare to Focal Solo6 :
Recaro seat (Equator D5) versus Limousine seat (Focal Solo6). Both fine for long distance. You will see more details of the landscape with the Equator.
In the high frequency the D5 give up some gentleness and finesse to the Solo6. That's all. I have more fun with the D5.
Boundary and sensitivity control are very efficient.
Great speakers !
