The Paiste Color Sound 900 Heavy Hi-Hat in 14" delivers a brilliant, fat and powerful sound with a relatively slow response. The solid, defined chick stands in harmonic contrast to the dynamic, bright open sound. The Color Sound Heavy Hi-Hat is a very versatile Hi-Hat with a black finish for dynamic, energetic playing.
All cymbals of the Paiste 900 series are made of B8 bronze alloy, better known as 2002 bronze. The mixture in a ratio of 92% copper to 8% tin is known for a very warm, brilliant and expressive sound character. The machine-made 900 series cymbals are hammered and turned by hand by the experienced Paiste cymbal smiths, a real specialty in this price range. The special finish gives the 900 series cymbals a dark shine and visually enhances the pattern and hammer marks for a spectacular appearance that combines roughness with elegance.
The innovative design gives the 900 series cymbals great flexibility and excellent playability. The sound is rich and warm, peppered with well-proportioned highs. Larger and heavier models also have a good degree of brilliance, sharpness and projection. The core of the program focuses on crash and ride cymbals of various sizes in medium and heavy strength. A selection of Hi-Hats, Splashes and Chinas rounds off the program.
I play metal and I didn`t expected that this hihat will dethrone my 2002 sound edge, as my favourite hihat. I have discovered that it has all I ever wanted from a hihat. Its dry, dark, silky, with incredible cutting stick definition and little bit of a white noise.
Note that paint coating rolls off the highs drastically, and makes decay very very short while played open.
There is nothing I dislike about this hihat, plus 900 Color Sound is the best priced cymbal line ever that will fit all the styles of drumming.
