Recording
With eight XLR/TRS combo inputs, a 3.5mm stereo input and a Zoom capsule input, the Zoom F8 can record up to 8x audio tracks and an additional stereo track of the mix - all with resolutions up to 24-bit/192kHz. In dual channel recording mode, channels 1-4 can be recorded as safety tracks with independent level, limiter, delay, phase and high-pass settings. Recording can be done simultaneously on 2x SD cards (each with up to 512GB storage capacity). This way you can immediately share the recordings or make backup copies. The integrated advanced limiters protect against overloads and can be used simultaneously in all 4x channels even at full resolution.
Expandable
The F8 is equipped with a ten-pin Zoom microphone capsule input, which can be used to further increase the recording capacity. By connecting the optional EXH-6 XLR/TRS capsule, 2x additional microphone/line inputs can be added to the F8, bringing the total to 10x independent XLR/TRS combination inputs. The F8 also offers the possibility to add another microphone to the built-in microphone. Here, for example, the SGH-6 directional microphone capsule or the XYH-6 stereo X/Y microphone capsule can be used. The optional ECM extension cable enables remote, variable positioning of all capsules.
Equipment
Each of the 8x separate XLR/TRS combination inputs is assigned its own gain controls, six-stage LED level indicators, recording standby and PFL buttons. In addition to the 6.3mm headphone output (with its own volume control), the F8 offers 4x additional outputs and the device can be connected to external mixing consoles and studio peripherals for further processing via the two balanced XLR main outputs. Two sub-outputs (3.5mm stereo jack output) allow easy connection to a camera. The time code connections are in BNC format. Firmware updates and file transfers are possible via the USB connection. It also allows the F8 to be used as a USB audio interface with 8 inputs and 4 outputs at sampling frequencies of up to 96 kHz. The colour 2.4" LCD display (can be switched to black and white) is backlit and is easy to read in all lighting conditions. Thanks to its compact metal housing, the F8 is stable and durable. At the same time, the device weighs only 960 grams without batteries.
