The Fame Koa Standard Uke is the latest model in the Standard series, adding a breathtakingly beautiful concert ukulele crafted from the finest materials to the range. With its solid koa top and body, also crafted from koa wood, it produces a remarkably balanced sound that is equally suited to accompanying vocals and professional solo playing. It also features a pickup for amplified playing, making the ukulele ready for the stage and the recording studio. A gig bag, included as standard, with a rucksack attachment and accessory compartment rounds off the model’s features and ensures safe and easy transport to gigs, recording studios or rehearsal rooms.
Thanks to its resonant solid koa top, this ukulele produces a powerful sound suitable for professional use that fills the stage completely. The manufacturer relies entirely on koa wood for the top, back and sides, a timber that is particularly popular in the production of high-quality ukuleles. Native to Hawaii, this wood produces a balanced sound with warm bass, crisp mids and defined treble, making it ideal for dynamic playing techniques.
As the concert ukulele is slightly larger than the well-known soprano ukulele, it has proved particularly popular with adults thanks to its comfortable playability. With a scale length of 381 mm and a nut width of 37.8 mm, it features greater spacing between its 19 frets and the four strings, which, combined with the grippy mahogany neck, contributes to its comfortable playability. Ukulele enthusiasts need not, however, do without the typical Hawaiian sound, as the tone differs very little from the well-known sound of the soprano ukulele. In addition, the compensated plastic bridge insert ensures perfectly clean intonation, whilst gold-plated open-gear tuners guarantee the necessary tuning stability.
To ensure optimum sound transmission when playing through an amplifier, this model is fitted with a Belcat pickup system featuring a preamp in the upper side. The system offers a range of impressive features for optimising the sound. A volume control and a 2-band equaliser with controls for bass and treble allow for individual and independent adjustment of the tone and adaptation to the ambient conditions. Meanwhile, a built-in tuner ensures perfect control over the tuning and even allows for quick corrections during a performance.
