The 1964 Historic Reissue is made using authentic Sixties methods.
Authentically built ES
The 1964 ES-335 Reissue follows the original specifications from the golden Sixties. Its body is made of maple-poplar laminate and reinforced with a solid maple center block, delivering an airy acoustic timbre while minimizing feedback. The glued mahogany neck features the comfortable "Authentic '64 Medium C-Shape," providing effortless playability across the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.
With custom bucker pickups and semi-acoustic construction, the 1964 Reissue ES-335 delivers premium vintage tones.
Gibson Custom Bucker
Equipped with two Gibson Custom Bucker pickups, the ES-335 Reissue produces premium vintage tones suited to blues and rock. These pickups, modeled after classic PAFs and fitted with Alnico III magnets, offer detailed reproduction of the hollow-body sound and a responsive, dynamic feel. The traditional hand-wired three-way circuit with individual volume and tone controls for each humbucker and paper-in-oil capacitors allows precise tonal shaping.
Kluson tuners in the historically correct "Single Line, Double Ring" promise precise tuning.
Authentic hardware equipment
The historic authenticity continues with the hardware. The aluminum tailpiece paired with the ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, developed under Ted McCarty, ensures accurate intonation and comfortable string action. Kluson tuners with the historically correct "single line, double ring" design provide precise and stable tuning, completing the authentic vintage experience of the Gibson 1964 ES-335 Reissue.
