The Sonor SQ1 320 Shell Set in Hot Rod Red is a professional drum set made from 100% birch with innovative Sound Sustainer technology - Made in Germany. The matt lacquer finish is inspired by vehicle construction in the 1960s. Sonor SQ1 is perfect for drummers who value sophisticated sound on stage and in the studio at a balanced price/performance ratio.
The European birch used in the tension free glued drum shells (CLTF) is characterized by perfect sound balance as well as volume and attack, perfect for a professional all-rounder drum kit at a fair price.
The three drum shells are matched to each other by the OSM (Optimum Shell Measurement) established by Sonor, i.e. the minimally reduced drum diameters achieve simple tunability and sustain.
For decades, birch wood drum shells have been among the most popular of all, because the sound is extremely balanced and has a great frequency range with which every style of music can be operated. In the studio you get extremely clear signals with the Sonor SQ1 drums and during live use it develops a crisp attack and a very open sound. This is additionally supported by the factory-fitted Remo Ambassador heads. The bass drum consists of 10 layers of birch, the tom toms and floor tom of the Sonor SQ1 drum set consist of 7 layers.
The minimally reduced drum shell diameter (Optimum Shell Measurement) and the tension-free cross-gluing (CLTF Cross Lamination Tension Free) ensure an ideally matched drum sound as well as resonant vibration behaviour and easy tunability in every situation. The matt lacquer finish is inspired by vehicle construction in the 1960s and rounds off the overall picture in an extremely harmonious and contemporary way.
After many years of research by Sonor into the sound optimization of drums, the innovative Sound Sustainer technology was developed in cooperation with the automotive industry: A 2-component solution made from metal and rubber provides complete insulation of the holder from the SQ1 shell. The intelligent holding system consists of a buffer made from hard rubber, which is attached to the shell. The Tom mount is recessed into this buffer. This completely avoids contact between Tom-holder or Floor-Tom leg and the drum shell.
The result is a very clean and long sustain and unimpeded sound development.
