The MIXARS STA Turntable is a professional direct-drive turntable, ideal for scratching and club DJs due to its high torque. The quartz controlled direct-drive ensures precise speed accuracy whilst the 4.5 kg monitor optimizes the user’s scratch experience. This high performance turntable features an S shaped arm to ensure a skip free performance.
High resolution pitch faders ensure precise mixing. The STA Turntable also features two RCA outputs which enables it to be connected to two mixers simultaneously for easy scratch battle set ups and much more. A headshell and slipmat are included.
Ive got a collection of 6 turntables ranging from the humble Project Debut £120 to an Inspire Eclipse SE fitted with an RB1000 arm £3000
Recently Id bought an Eagle Tone One Two and was very impressed and when I saw this Mixars STA at the bargain price of £230 I had to have one (7 turntables I must be mad..lol)
The turntable arrived very quickly from Germany and was well packaged being double boxed.
Unpacking and set up is very simple but be aware that this like the other Super OEMs weighs in at about 11kg so you will need a sturdy rack or shelf.
The turn table base and plinth are all plastic with a rubbery surface, when you tap the surface it sounds hollow, maybe some damping under the plinth would be an idea.
As with most Hanpin turntables the tonearm bearings were loose causing the tone arm to rattle but a quick adjust and all was well
I first fitted an AT740ML but this was too heavy as the counterweigh was right on the end of its adjustment to get the required tracking weight and on listening I don't think this cart suited the Mixars.
I then fitted a lighter AT95EX cart and did my first listening test using the phono outputs and not the in built phono stage and was very impressed indeed.
Listening to a mixture of Jazz, New Order, Easy Listening etc the Mixars never missed a beat.
Next is to test it with a AT VM95ML, I was using this on the Eagletone and its a fantastic match and seeing as both these turntables as based on the same or similar underpinnings I'm expecting a similar result.
Mixars STA - Highly recommended especially at this price.....
At £230 this has no competition. Powerful and accurate motor, adjustable start/stop speed, reverse, twin outputs with phono/line, heavy and stable. It's made of plastic, yes, but then again the new Technics mk7 or Pioneer PLX1000 are plastic too, they perform the same and cost 4x more. Some cheaper materials for the casing and the tone arm lift lever which could have been more thicker and sturdier, but that's it, other than that, it performs just as well if not better than turntables many times the price. I haven't noticed any performance differences from my 30 year old Technics mk2!
Fantastic Super oem turntables.
They are pretty much the same model as the Reloop 7000, Stanton ST150 etc.
Bought to replace my 20 year old Vestax decks and I have been very impressed.
Best price online by a large margin.
i have this product about two years now, so i bought i second one to fill the pair.
I think that is the best option for ''low'' budget. The unit feels solid and reliable and easily compareable with expensive and famous turntables.
Pros :
-Extremmly high torque motor, for scrathcing
-Nice black mat finish
-Nice features such as reverse and deticaded button for fast changing the tempo range.'
Cons:
-Nothing major to mention
