The Fame
These B-goods are usually instruments that exhibit what is known as "crosstalk behavior". The playing of a low tone of the pan (e.g. the thing in "D3") stimulates a harmonically corresponding high tone ("D4" or "A4") to resonate. This crosstalk has no effect on the overall tuning, which is also checked for these pans and therefore rated as clean.

The central fundamental tone is in the middle of the handpan, surrounded in a circle by a choir of sound fields. The individual playing surfaces are under pressure and are tuned by hand to 440 Hz; if the sound fields are now struck briefly with the finger, the entire handpan is set in vibration and a linear, spherical tone with singing sustain is produced. This model has two additional bottom notes on the underside.

The technique of playing a handpan is comparatively simple to learn: the playing surface is struck briefly with the fingertip, the faster the hand is then pulled away, the more beautiful the sound produced. Our product specialist Christian aka "Mister Handpan" shows further steps for learning to play the handpan in his tutorials on the MUSIC STORE Youtube Channel.
