With the launch of the limited "Collectors Choice" models, the guitar builders Gibson Custom Shop proved that they can build good Les Pauls with the qualities that many enthusiasts, collectors and, above all, active players appreciate. With the meticulous examination of the Original instruments for the CC series, the guitar makers gained Nashville some new insights, so that from the year 2015 onwards the popular LPR series, Reissue models from the years '52 to '60, were no longer built and replaced by the True Historic series.
For the " True Historic " models, the selection of materials and the manufacturing process have been decisively further developed. Hot Hide Glue" is used for the gluing of the neck, fingerboard and top. Hot processed bone glue hardens hard as glass and is considered, along with the wood quality and the "long Neck tenon", to be the special feature of a good Les Paul .
The " Double carve" of the top means that after the preparation by CNC manual reworking follows. In particular, the edges are given more harmonious shapes. The wafer-thin Nitro finish receives a wet sanding. Thus a " True Historic " conveys the feeling of a well maintained original over the years.
The production of pickups was also further developed. Custom Buckers have differently wound coils with authentic wire and in the " True Historic " version are given the appropriate cap in dimension and material, so that the entire pickup corresponds to the model of a P Original .A.F..
The components from Kunststoff have also been sufficiently investigated. From the "poker chip" surrounding the toggle switch to the M69 "pup Ring " for Humbucker assembly, not only the appearance but also the material itself corresponds to the parts usual at the time and, accordingly, its ageing properties over the years.
Of course comes the Gibson 1958 True Historic Les Paul Standard including Certificate of Authenticity and Gibson Lifton Style Case .
