Direct-drive with precise speed control

The TEAC TN-4D-SE is a direct-drive analogue turntable that combines high-quality technology with an elegant, slimline design. Its specially developed brushless DC motor is controlled by a computer-controlled feedback circuit and ensures precise speed stability with low wow and flutter levels. The drive is supported by a die-cast aluminium platter, which, with its low inertia, further contributes to a stable rotational speed. The high-quality rotary switch, made from milled aluminium, allows you to select 33⅓ and 45 rpm.

SAEC tonearm with precision bearing and flexible cartridge selection

In collaboration with the renowned high-end tonearm manufacturer SAEC Corporation, the TN-4D-SE’s tonearm has been fitted with a knife-edge pivot-point bearing. The subtle vertical movements of this bearing support dynamic, high-resolution playback. The S-shaped tonearm features a universal headshell mount, enabling quick replacement of cartridges and headshells. It supports cartridge weights ranging from 14 to 23 g. A counterweight for tracking force adjustment and an anti-skating mechanism are also provided to ensure precise tuning.

SUMIKO Oyster MM cartridge and integrated phono EQ

The TEAC TN-4D-SE comes fitted with a SUMIKO Oyster MM cartridge as standard. The cartridge has been developed to deliver powerful and detailed sound reproduction and is suitable for a variety of musical genres. For direct connection to an existing hi-fi system, the turntable features a built-in phono EQ amplifier that can be switched between phono and line modes. The phono EQ stage utilises the audiophile-grade NJM8080 operational amplifier, which amplifies the very weak signals from the cartridge to line level. Gold-plated, oxidation-resistant output connectors ensure high-quality signal transmission.

Low-resonance construction and elegant design

To ensure high resistance to external influences, the TN-4D-SE features shock-absorbing feet. The feet consist of a milled aluminium shell with rubber padding and are mounted on a high-density MDF base. This enhances resistance to acoustic feedback. The high-quality appearance is complemented by a multi-layered piano lacquer finish or natural walnut veneer. The specifications are rounded off by a GND connection and a RoHS-compliant design.
