The Ibanez miKro GSRM20L-BK Lefthand is a 4-string electric bass guitar featuring a mahogany body, a maple neck, a rosewood fingerboard, and a black finish. Designed for use with small hands, the Ibanez miKro guitars deliver huge sounds and are equipped with many of the same features as their larger counterparts. This compact bass guitar features a string spacing of just 19mm, making it highly accommodating for children or bigger players. Dynamix pickups in the neck and bridge position deliver plenty of Ibanez crunch and drive, and are controllable via two volume knobs and one tone knob.
As a guitarist, I only need a bass for recordings. I've tried several low-cost bass guitars (Squire, Harley Benton, Gear4Music); thing is, I didn't want a giant lump of wood hanging on the wall that I was only going to use once a month.
I had read lots of positives regarding short-scale bass guitars, and the Ibanez Mikro in particular, so I thought I'd give it a try.
These are very popular and obtaining one wasn't easy, so 5 stars to dv247 for getting one in stock faster than they predicted. Other suppliers were quoting months, if at all.
First thing I'd advise: this is not a toy. Having said that, it would be a great starter bass for young learners.
Cosmetically the Mikro is a good looking mini-bass, nicely finished. The neck is very playable, especially if you've got short fingers like me (the upper neck of a standard bass was out of range for me...)
The sound is better than any low cost bass I've played, and as other people have said, it really is fun to play.
This is not a professional instrument, but I'm happy to recommend it for the reasons described. And it's excellent value for money.
I spent some time searching for an instrument that would meet my needs, and the Ibanez MiKro seemed to fit the bill. I needed a left handed model, which - as every lefty knows - is not easy to come by. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was available from DV247, and the price was reasonable (no additional mark up for left handed model - yay!). The bass arrived in good condition, probably because the packaging was robust. The instrument is just what I hoped for - quality build (especially for this price!) and lovely sound (though I'm only playing it through practice earphone setup at the moment). Really looks great too! I also bought a basic guitar stand for it, and I was impressed once again with the quality. Both items were boxed together, so no waiting for a second delivery. Happy to recommend the seller and the product!
