The 1959 Gibson Les Paul electric guitars are regarded by collectors and sound connoisseurs as the Holy Grail, which is regarded as a visual and tonal reference with a burst finish Riegelahorn top and PAF humbuckers. With the Gibson Standard Historic 1959 Les Paul Standard VOS Iced Tea, the Gibson Custom Shop electric guitarist now offers the opportunity to enjoy the authentic 1959 burst feeling without spending horrendous sums on a well-preserved original.
To ensure that the Gibson Standard Historic 1959 Les Paul Standard conveys the look, feel and sound of a real Holy Grail as authentically as possible, Gibson Custom Shop guitar builders strictly adhere to the 1959 Standard Historic specifications. Accordingly, this electric guitar has a one-piece body made of mahogany on which the two-piece curly maple top is glued. The transaprent nitrocellulose finish in Iced Tea perfectly accentuates the grain of the blanket. The one-piece mahogany neck is glued into the body with Long Neck Tenon and bone glue (Hot Hide Glue), so that nothing stands in the way of perfect resonance transmission for the typical sound.
The Gibson Standard Historic 1959 Les Paul Standard uses two custom bookers as pickups. Originally from the Collector's Choice range, these special humbuckers were developed after extensive analysis of the best PAF pickups of the 1950s. Accordingly, they convince with their authentic vintage humbucker sound, whose vocal-warm mids and transparent highs bring every played note to life. The pickups follow every nuance with airy dynamics, so that the sound shaping is in the hands of the guitarist. In addition, the classic Les Paul circuit with individual volume and tone controls is available for each pickup.
