The Supro 1659RT Royal Reverb is the flagship in the range of the American traditional manufacturer Supro and convinces with a versatile sound concept. The heart of the combos is the elaborately interconnected power amplifier, which offers three different power levels for every situation: 35 watts, 45 watts and 65 watts. The operating mode and rectification of the output stage tubes are also switched together with the power stages.
If both 6L6 tubes work in 35 watt mode in dynamic Class A mode, it is the proven Class A/B push-pull mode in the more powerful 45 watt mode. Both modes have in common the rectification by means of a 5U4 tube, which promises a soft response and the popular "Sag" at high output levels. At maximum power, the two 6L6 tubes continue to work in push-pull, but rectification is now handled by a silicon chip that guarantees stable sound and larger headroom.
In the single-channel preamplifier, two effects are available in addition to the 2-Band tone control for bass and treble. The Reverb effect, created by a classic spring reverb System , adds spatial depth to the sound. The spectrum ranges from subtle greasing to a dramatic surf effect. The tube tremolo of the Supro Royal Reverb convinces with its soft Modulation character which is influenced by the selected power level and rectification.
Two 10" Supro HP10 loudspeakers reproduce the character-strong sound of the Royal Reverb powerfully and with natural presence especially atmospheric.
