The Fred Humbucker

The Fred by Dimarzio is essentially a PAF humbucker, though it’s a fair bit hotter than the popular original. With a noticeably tighter mid-range and more pronounced overtones, it cuts through superbly and fits perfectly into the modern soundscape. What’s more, the Fred is highly responsive to the guitarist’s touch, accentuating dynamic playing. The Fred began its career as a prototype for Joe Satriani – surely no bad endorsement for modern lead sounds!
