Intellijel Swells Effect Module

The Eldorado for reverb fans!

With Swells, Intellijel presents a lavishly equipped effects module with a focus on reverb in all its variations. The module offers nine reverb algorithms (Fog, Blur, Shadow, Velvet, Asterion, Deadspace, Buckets, Ritual, Gaze), which include classic reverb variants, plate reverb, reinterpreted vintage classics and bizarre, almost dystopian reverbs. Each model is equipped with switchable LoFi, which changes the effect sound even further, i.e. deliberately degrades it.

The algorithms are selected using two toggle switches; the primary settings are made using typical reverb parameters such as pre-delay, size, decay, high/low damping and EQ. The Ebb and Flow parameters are algorithm-specific. Furthermore, almost all sound-relevant parameters can be modulated via CV and are equipped with their own attenuators.

Swells has an internal modulation source, the swell generator. This is basically an envelope follower with controls for rise, fall and threshold, selectable audio source (input, sidechain, output); as well as adjustable EF gain and EF high-cut filter. The output of the swell generator is connected to all reverb parameters to allow instant self-modulation. There is also a dedicated CV output to use the modulations with other modules.

The trigger input can be assigned to Freeze, Burst, Reverse, Swell or Reverse Sync functions. FREEZE captures a fraction of a second of the input signal and creates new textured sounds. REVERSE reverses the incoming signal (with adjustable time and sync options). BURST adds noise or feedback to the input signal.
