The PRS Special Semi-Hollow Black Gold at a glance

The PRS Special Semi-Hollow Black Gold combines classic PRS design with the benefits of semi-hollow construction. The instrument’s fundamental tonal character is shaped by its body, which consists of a solid mahogany back and an arched maple top with a violin top carve. The PRS Special Semi-Hollow’s pickup configuration, consisting of three pickups, provides the perfect tonal complement when amplified. Two PRS McCarty III humbuckers, familiar from the McCarty model, are fitted at the neck and bridge positions, with a PRS Narrowfield humbucker featuring a narrower coil winding situated between them. The two mini-toggle switches allow both humbuckers to be switched separately into coil-tap mode, delivering airy, clear single-coil tones.
