The UDO Audio Super 6 ST49 at a glance:
From UDO Audio comes the Super 6 ST49, a 12-voice polyphonic, digital-analog hybrid synthesizer with binaural voice architecture. The ST49 version of the Super 6 is equipped with a high-quality, weighted keyboard that generates polyphonic aftertouch. With these features, the performance on the keyboard reaches a completely new level, which has a sound-relevant effect on the expressive possibilities. The aftertouch values, which are now available for each individual note instead of one value for all notes, make it possible, for example, to accentuate and emphasize individual parts of a sustained chord or arpeggiated sound. The robust and high-quality workmanship of the instrument is not only due to the numerous controls for easy operation and great playing pleasure.
Sound architecture
The Super 6 ST49 has two high-resolution digital oscillators that provide sine, triangle, sawtooth, square and Noise. In addition, oscillator 1 has 16 user wavetables and oscillator 2 has pulse width modulation. The oscillator section also offers pitch modulation, sync, Crossmodulation (FM), a sub-oscillator and an X-fade mode for mixing the tone generators. An analog 24 dB Lowpass filter with a downstream, rigid Highpass Filter and a switchable, two-stage drive is used to process the rich sound spectrum. The VCA, which can be modulated by an LFO in addition to the envelope (tremolo effect), is just as analog.
Modulations & effects
Two different LFOs, two ADSR envelopes, the assignments for the pitch bender and the comprehensive modulation matrix with several entries that can be stored in Patch provide plenty of movement in the sound. The Super 6 ST49 is also ideal for processing audio signals, as it has an audio channel with trigger function for driving the envelopes. The signal chain is rounded off with the two high-quality 24-bit stereo effectsDelay and Chorus.
Playing aids
In addition to the good keyboard, the Arpeggiator respectively sequencer is optionally provided for note input, which is extensively equipped and can of course be synchronized to MIDI-Clock. In voice mode, the voices are assigned across the board; mono, legato, Unisono and two poly modes cover everything. If required, binaural voice distribution can be switched on for very dynamic and lively voice distribution in the panorama. The Super 6 ST49 has 128 memory locations for storing and recalling user-created sounds. If you prefer to work with the controls, simply press the manual button and the sound you hear will match the current settings and behave like a classic analog sound.
The next Jupiter
Anyone who thinks they have recognized a "new Roland Jupiter-6" in this sea of faders can rest assured: visually and functionally, "UDO" is based on it, but in terms of sound it is in a completely different league. The Super 6 ST49 sounds modern-analog and noble-digital at the same time; but also a bit British in the best sense.
