Product information - A-168-1 PWM Module

Pulse width generator

The module A-168-1 is a pulse width generator. It derives a square-wave signal with adjustable pulse width from an incoming triangle, sawtooth or sine signal.

The incoming signal usually comes from an LFO or VCO, but any signal with falling or rising edge can be used (e.g. also ADSR). The module is not suitable for incoming square-wave signals only.

In addition, the pulse width of the output signal can be modulated with a control voltage. The typical application is the generation of a pulse width adjustable and modulable square wave signal from an LFO or VCO signal, if the respective LFO/VCO does not have this function (e.g. A-110-4, A-145, A-147-2, A-143-4, A-143-9).

Features:

  • Manual pulse width controller (PW)
  • Control input for pulse width modulation with attenuator (PWM)
  • Signal input (In)
  • Output with LED display (Out)
  • inverted output with LED display (/Out)
  • Internal timmpotentiometer for PW centering (this sets the module so that the outputs generate an approximately balanced square-wave signal when the manual PW controller is in the center position, this is necessary for signals with different DC offset, e.g. zero-symmetric or purely positive signals)
  • Internal timing potentiometer for PWM (this sets the module so that the manual PW controller sweeps the full range from 0 to 100 % pulse width)
  • The internal time potentiometers are required to adapt the module to different signal sources (i.e. to signals with different DC offset or different signal levels).
  • Normally the module is therefore permanently assigned to another module, since the module must be readjusted when the signal sources change (unless the signals have approximately the same level and DC offset).
