The Clavinova CLP-875 B from Yamaha is a state-of-the-art digital piano that stands out thanks to its attractive, timeless design and first-class sound. The 88-key Grand Touch keyboard features a linear weighted hammer action. The keys are finished with ivory-like coatings (Ebony & Ivory Touch), providing the player with a grippier surface and significantly reducing slippage. Furthermore, the white keys are made from real wood. The pull-out keyboard cover protects both the keyboard and the internal components from dust and dirt when not in use. The music stand has space for several sheets of music and, of course, a tablet. Operating the CLP-875 is made even easier with the help of the Smart Pianist and Rec’n’Share apps, which are available free of charge for Android and iOS smart devices, and these apps add some interesting new features.

The digital sound generation impresses with sounds created using binaural sampling technology from the two concert grand pianos, the Yamaha CFX and the Bösendorfer Imperial. Thanks to Virtual Resonance Modelling, these grand pianos sound astonishingly authentic down to the finest nuances, which, combined with the keyboard, makes playing a real pleasure. In addition to the two concert grand pianos, the CLP-875 provides access to a total of 38 sounds! The high polyphony of 256 voices is more than sufficient to ensure that no lingering note is lost, even when playing at a faster tempo. To tailor the sounds to your personal taste, there are seven reverb types, three chorus variants and twelve insert effects. The two psychoacoustic functions, Intelligent Acoustic Control and Stereophonic Optimizer, add that extra touch to the sound when required.
The handy Smart Pianist app offers all smartphone and tablet owners with iOS or Android operating systems an even wider range of features and, above all, even greater ease of use.
Last but not least, the app offers detailed adjustment options which, on a purely mechanical piano, can only be altered by the instrument maker at the factory or a piano tuner.
Keyboard players who write their own songs will appreciate the 16-track recording function in MIDI format. There is sufficient storage space for 250 songs. Audio recording is also no problem with the CLP-875; the instrument saves audio files in WAV format, with a duration of up to 80 minutes, onto a separately available USB drive. Naturally, the CLP-875 is equipped with Dual, Layer and Split modes for the keyboard. This allows you to distribute and layer two different sounds across the entire keyboard, whether you want to combine an organ sound with a piano sound and strings for the bass part.
The speakers fitted in the CLP-875 also benefit from our many years of experience in acoustic pianos and the development of high-quality speakers. Separate speakers for different frequency ranges produce a clear sound with depth. A total of six speakers are fitted, delivering an output of 2 × 45 W + 25 W + 40 W. By incorporating digital control via Grand Acoustic Imaging with 3D audio, Yamaha has succeeded in reproducing the sound atmosphere of a concert grand piano in astonishing detail.
