Preamp pedal for electric bass with two distortion circuits, graphic EQ, DI output and Aux-In
This Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra v2 with Aux-In is based on the dual overdrive circuit co-designed with Karnivool bassist Jon Stockman, and incorporates this into the ultimate bass preamp for the stage and recording studio. Accordingly, the distortion characters named ‘Alpha’ and ‘Omega’ are available, complemented by a 6-band graphic equaliser for precise adjustment of the sound. In addition, there is a balanced DI output, an Aux-In and a headphone socket with switchable impulse response speaker simulation.
Alpha and Omega Distortion
The two eponymous distortion circuits are undoubtedly the centrepiece of the Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra v2 bass preamp; they each have their own distinct character and can be seamlessly blended using the Mod control. Alpha delivers a tight bass overdrive with focused definition, whilst Omega puts the signal through its paces with unrestrained distortion, delivering a brutal sound. The Drive control determines the overall level of distortion, whilst the Blend control allows the clean signal to be mixed in.
6-band equaliser with Growl and Bite switches
To further customise the sound, the Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra v2 is equipped with a 6-band graphic equaliser, which allows for particularly precise adjustment of the frequency ranges that shape the character of the sound. The bass and treble bands each offer a 12 dB boost or cut, whilst the four mid-range bands can be raised or lowered by 10 dB each. The familiar Growl and Bite switches can also be used to emphasise the low and high frequencies significantly.
DI output, Aux-In and headphone socket with speaker simulation
For easy monitoring of the bass signal on stage or in the recording studio, the Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra is also fitted with a balanced DI output, via which the signal can be routed to mixing desks or recording equipment. There is also a headphone socket on board for silent bass playing. This features a switchable speaker simulation based on impulse responses, which promises a particularly natural sound character. The impulse responses can be easily changed via the USB port. Last but not least, the Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra v2 features an Aux-In for playing back backing tracks or play-alongs.
The Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra v2 offers versatile bass sounds with two distortion circuits and a 6-band graphic equaliser.
