The result of many years of research and development, the Gibson Custombucker represents the gold standard of the Gibson Custom Shop and is considered a historically accurate copy of the legendary 'Patent Applied For' humbucker used in the iconic instruments of the late 1950s. For its warm and round qualities, the Custombucker relies on Alnico III magnets and follows historical production steps. Thus, the two coils of the humbucker, wound with 42 AWG wire and not waxed, have slightly different numbers of windings to give each Custombucker its unique character.
