The pentatonic scale consists of whole-tone sequences and one-and-a-half-tone steps. As there are no semitones and no note acts as a leading tone, any note can serve as the starting, ‘central’ or ending note. This results in melodies with a floating quality and, when accompanied by other notes, a harmonious polyphony.
The Moeck 1027 Flauto Penta is a pentatonic (five-note) recorder. It is particularly suitable for musical activities with pre-school and primary school children and for use in music therapy.
