The Radial Gold Digger in studio use with microphones connected

Compare microphones efficiently – without having to switch them around or lose sound quality

The Radial Gold Digger is a 4x1 microphone selector switch. It allows you to compare up to four microphones using just one preamp – all at the touch of a button. There’s no need for time-consuming manual rewiring, saving you time and allowing you to continue your creative process uninterrupted. The highlight: the signal path is completely transparent and distortion-free – ensuring that the original sound character of each microphone is fully preserved.

Objective comparisons thanks to individual trim controls

To enable fair A/B comparisons, the Gold Digger features four separate trim controls on the front panel. These allow you to adjust the microphones’ output levels to a uniform Level. This makes differences in sound – rather than in volume – audible. The signal path remains passive throughout, whilst relays ensure silent switching. This means there is no additional distortion or colouration of the sound.

Built-in +48V phantom power – safe even for vintage ribbon microphones

For condenser microphones, the Gold Digger provides phantom power with an LED indicator for each channel. The switches are deliberately recessed to prevent accidental activation – for example, with sensitive ribbon microphones – um. This ensures that both modern and vintage microphones can be operated safely and compared with one another.

Robust housing for everyday studio use

The housing is made from high-quality 14-gauge steel, which minimises mechanical stress and provides optimum shielding against electromagnetic interference. The non-slip neoprene base plate also ensures a secure grip on any surface. All XLR connectors are made from glass-fibre-reinforced plastic, with durable nickel-silver contacts for maximum signal purity and channel separation.

Ideal for use in the studio, broadcast and ‘ Live ’ – flexibel

Whether for vocal sessions, guitar recordings or drum miking: the Gold Digger allows you to directly compare microphones under real-world conditions – without compromising on sound quality. When used in conjunction with the optionally available Radial Cherry Picker, the system can be expanded to um ly combine and evaluate different Preamps.
