Sonnet Tempo SSD Simple SSD Upgrade Solutions

PCIe card for 6 Gb/s SSDs, SATA PCIe 2.0, RAID support

With Tempo SSD, any 6Gb SSDs can be connected directly to a PCIe card – on a computer or a Thunderbolt PCIe expansion chassis.

Thanks to Tempo SSD, users can easily attach an SSD to a PCIe card. Unlike other PCIe SSD cards, Tempo SSD uses the widely available 2.5-inch SATA SSDs (not included). This gives users complete flexibility: they can choose their SSDs according to their budget and current requirements for capacity and performance – with the option of a straightforward upgrade if necessary.

The Tempo SSD card utilises a high-performance 6 Gb/s SATA controller and a PCIe 2.0 interface. Thanks to its special design, a single SSD can be installed with the card in half-length mode, or – using the supplied mounting bracket – two SSDs can be installed with the card in full-length mode. The Tempo SSD supports read speeds of up to 470 MB/s with a single SSD or up to 660 MB/s with two SSDs configured as a RAID 0 array.

The Sonnet Tempo SSD card can be installed in the PCIe slot of a Mac or Windows computer, or in a Thunderbolt expansion chassis for PCIe cards, such as Sonnet’s Echo Express or Echo Express Pro. SSDs connected to the Sonnet cards can be configured as boot drives in Windows. When fitted with SSDs, the cards are so slim that they occupy no more space than a single-width card. In a Mac Pro, the Tempo card offers twice the bandwidth of a native 3 Gb/s SATA bus.

The card includes an optional PCIe bracket. This allows the installation of two BNC connectors for HD-SDI output, for example in conjunction with the RED Rocket card from RED Digital Cinemas. This bracket allows users to connect a Tempo SSD and a Red Rocket card to two drive bays and route HD-SDI – without occupying a third drive bay.

  • Unique modular design enables the installation of a single SSD in half-length card slots, or two SSDs in a full-length card slot when the extension plate is attached to the card
