Compact mix control for live, recording and streaming

The Yamaha MGX12 W is a compact 12-channel digital mixer for live sound, recording, streaming and mobile setups. With 4 mono and 4 stereo channels, sound pad and FX returns, it offers a practical channel architecture for solo artists, duos, small bands, podcast setups and rehearsal rooms. Operation is via an 11+1 fader surface and a 4.3" touchscreen, so that channel editing, routing and scenes are quickly accessible.

For productions, the MGX12 also serves as an audio interface and recorder. Via USB MAIN, 18 inputs and outputs with 32 bit / 96 kHz are available; in addition, USB SUB offers a separate 2x2 interface for further audio sources or a second system. Alternatively, multi-track recordings can be made directly to microSD.

Bluetooth audio, internal sound processing and practical recording functions expand the MGX12 W for various applications. Voices, instruments and players can be shaped directly in the mixer, while effects such as delay and REV-X reverb provide spatial depth. This makes the console suitable as a compact mixing centre for small venues, home studios, streaming setups and mobile productions.


The GUI of the new Yamaha MGX can be customised so that you can route important functions directly to a separate control panel. This applies to the control buttons next to and below the display.

The 4.3" touchscreen plus five controls/encoders form the central control point of the Yamaha MGX. This allows you to work quickly and purposefully on the digital mixing console.

CONCLUSION: When I look at the Yamaha MGX series from the perspective of modern event technology, the MGX12 and MGX16 seem like very well thought-out digital mixers for anyone who wants to work mobile, flexible and without unnecessary ballast. I particularly like the combination of lightweight housing, clear operating concept, easy-to-read large display, LED-supported channel control, USB-C connection and practical assistance functions.
