Mullard 12AX7/Tung-Sol 12AX7 preamp tubes & Sovtek 5881WXT power amp tubes

Two separate inputs, each with its own volume control, are provided for different sounds. Channel I delivers the amplifier’s standard basic character, whilst Channel II offers a brighter tone with more treble. The shared tone control comprises Treble, Middle and Bass, as well as an additional Presence control for adjusting the upper frequency range. The preamp section utilises one Mullard 12AX7 and two Tung-Sol 12AX7 valves, whilst two Sovtek 5881WXT valves form the 50-watt valve power amp.

Straightforward design with no frills

On the rear panel, the Electro Harmonix MIG-50 features separate speaker terminals for 4, 8 and 16 ohms, allowing different cabinets to be connected without the need for additional impedance matching. Also accessible on the rear panel is the external bias adjustment, which allows the quiescent current of the power amp valves to be adjusted. This ensures that the MIG-50 retains a deliberately straightforward design overall and focuses on a classic valve amp signal path without any frills.
