The Danelectro '59 12-String Black is a modern reissue of the iconic late-‘50s guitar that became a staple in classic rock 'n' roll and has been immortalized on countless recordings. Even before its fame in rock, the DC 59 with its distinctive Lipstick pickups was the go-to instrument for many slide and blues guitarists, as Danelectro models were among the few affordable options available to most American guitarists at the time. This guitar features the classic semi-hollow construction with a Masonite body and a bolt-on maple neck. The shortened 25" scale length, combined with a fixed hardtail bridge with 12-string saddles and Alnico Lipstick single-coil pickups, offers a unique playing experience and the unmistakable Dano sound that players have come to love.
Danelectro '59 Double Cut 12-String BK BlackThe guitar plays like a dream. Straight out of the box. There was no need to set it up, because it was checked in the Music Store. I just tuned it and cannot stop playing since.
The only downside is visual. The tape that wraps around the body of the guitar has unglued where the neck joins the body, at the curved part. I does not affect the playability thou.
All in all this is a great sounding, easy playable and most important fun to play guitar. I am as happy as a child.
This guitar is an excellent instrument for all levels of guitarist but perhaps best for intermediates and above. Excellent twangy 12 string sound and well set up straight from the box ensuring ease of playing even up the neck. Stays in tune well. Edge tape may need re-glueing at some stage according to some reviews but all in all a great instrument at a very reasonable price. A major challenge to a much more expensive Rickenbacker at a fraction of the cost! If you want a great electric 12 string look no farther than the Danelectro!
This guitar was for my son, to replace one he had years ago that got broken. We are both delighted with it, the quality is excellent, it sounds as good as ever. Definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a beautiful guitar.
