The K&M 214331 Mini Boom Arm, Black is a short, adjustable microphone boom arm perfect for instrument and amp miking. It is particularly useful for overhead miking. There are 3/8" and 5/8" threaded connectors to take the microphone holder, and because of the flexible clamping, the boom arm can be positioned in length and angle with ease.

I am a fan of products like this that enable you to augment the capabilities of a normal stand. The ability to change angle and offset the mike clip at the end of the boom can be very useful. Do note, however, that the more threaded joints there are in an arrangement, the more likely it is that one will come loose; make sure that the lock/star/jam nuts are tight, or use a little lock fluid on the thread to make it more grippy.
