Granular sound synthesis with freeze function and savable presets

The MXR Textures Granular Synth Engine utilises granular sound synthesis to open up a wide range of possibilities for experimental sounds and atmospheric soundscapes. To achieve this, the pedal captures the input signal, breaks it down into small fragments – known as ‘grains’ – and then reassembles them in a variety of ways. Eight presets offer a quick introduction to the extensive sound spectrum, whilst the three operating modes – Delay, Auto-Freeze and Layers – range from granulated echoes through evolving pads to polyphonic layered pads. Using Size, Overlap, Pitch, Reverse, Delay, Rain and Mix, individual grains can be shaped in detail, whilst additional parameters provide access to randomisation as well as built-in reverb, filter and vibrato effects, amongst other things. Furthermore, the Textures Granular Synth Engine supports tap tempo, expression control and stereo I/O, making it equally suitable for ambient sounds, experimental effects and complex sound design.
