Boss OD-3 Overdrive

Really cool pedal, coming with great sounds. You can create lots of versatility while the controls remain easy to use. The housing seems pretty solid. I really recommend to use this with the boss power supply.

This is a great pedal! I was looking for a nice overdrive to use with an electric piano. This one came out on top. Nice response and easy to dial in de desired overdrive. Nice tone as well. Not to harsh. Sound more like an overdriven tube amp.

The od-3 is a special one in the Boss family of overdrives. It's a full range drive pedal, so it leaves your low end intact. Think of it as a slightly more gritty cousin of the Nobels ODR1. It's not not as boomy in the lows as the nobels, has a bit more gain on tap. In a blind test people would mistake the OD-3 for some boutique drive twice the price. Add to that the indestructible Boss housing and you've got all you could ask for in an overdrive! Works flawless into a clean amp too!

This overdrive pedal works fine but has a lot of output. My amp starts squealing when I engage the pedal, the volume must be kept down. There are not many mids from this pedal, it doesn’t cut through the mix like a tube screamer does. The OD-3 sounds better through a solid state amp than through a tube amp, for a tube amp I would choose a tube screamer type pedal like a Boss SD-1 or Maxon OD-9. Anyway the OD-3 is a decent pedal with great capabilities, but watch out if you need an overdrive pedal for live playing in a band, more midrange is needed.
