Gibson ES-335 50s: A tribute to the late 1950s!
The Gibson ES-335 50s builds on the early ES-335 models from 1958, the year of its first release, and captures the legendary semi-hollow sound of the golden Gibson era. The three-ply maple/poplar/maple body with a solid maple centre block combines the lightness of a semi-hollow with controlled sustain and reduced susceptibility to feedback. A mahogany neck with a substantial rounded ‘C’ profile, together with the bound rosewood fingerboard featuring 22 medium-jumbo frets, ensures the authentic playing feel of classic ES models. In terms of tone, the ES-335 50s features two Gibson Custom Alnico 3 humbuckers, which are tonally modelled on the coveted PAF pickups of the late 1950s and deliver warm clean tones, transparent crunch tones and singing leads. Hand-wired electronics with Orange Drop capacitors, an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and the high-quality nitrocellulose finish round off the specifications of this traditional semi-hollow guitar.
