Tama SSRP52K Soft Sound Ring SetI've been playing with these rings and this beater for three days now. I also bought an extra beater for use with double pedal.
The biggest thing the rings do is reduce the sustain of the toms to almost zero. There's also a decrease in volume, though not as drastic as silent stroke heads.
The beater reduces the attack a lot, but volumewise just a little reduction. I used two of them on double pedal but if you play 'fast' you can't hear the difference anymore between the notes and it's just one long bass drum sound. I think that's bad for learning precise playing.. For single pedal it's good for softer music. But I would not recommend using these beaters for double pedal..
Anyway, pricewise I think it's a good deal. I'll keep it in my arsenal. Might sell the second beater though.
