Wittner M 836 Taktell Piccolo zwart, KunststofbehuizingWhen placed upon the piano, the Wittner Taktell Piccolo looks pretty cool. When you kick it into gear, it works fine. Loud enough without overpowering your music (I play a 110cm Kawai upright). The tempo seems pretty consistent. So, all in all, your money's worth? Well...
The case isn't great and the whole thing is very light so don't even think about changing the tempo without stabilizing it with your other hand or picking it up to do so. Speaking of changing the tempo, shifting the weight is a bit of a pain as you get a lot of resistance (I get that the weight needs to stay in place while in motion, but still).
If you're looking for something that looks cool but doesn't quite seem like it's been built for serious use, go for it. If, like me, you use it often and need to switch tempo often, I'd probably go digital, like I'm considering. I'm guessing the quality of the pyramid-shaped version will be much better, but I'm not looking to spend that much money on a metronome.
Bottom line:
- looks quite good
- seems to do its job quite well when engaged
- overall quality disappointing
- changing tempo is a bit of a pain
- doesn't seem to be designed for heavy-duty use
