The Synthrotek MST System 84 is a monophonic and fully analog modular synthesizer. A total of twelve modules cover Synthrotek's 84HP Skiff Boat, including eleven modules from the MST series and one delay module. The integrated USB/MIDI interface connects the MST System 84 to external MIDI hardware, Mac and PC. Thus the modular system can also be controlled via DAW and software sequencer. The Synthrotek MST System 84 is ideal for bass, leads, drums and classic to chaotic modulations.
The heart of the Synthrotek MST System 84 consists of two powerful oscillators, each with sine, triangle, sawtooth, sawtooth +1octave and square wave outputs. The double envelope curve can be switched per unit AD or ASR and in two times. The envelope of the MST System 84 also has end-of-cycle and inverted outputs. The MST Dual VCA, which can operate linearly or exponentially, not only controls the volume, but also performs history and control tasks. The soft filter scores with 12dB & 24dB low-pass outputs and can be used as a 1V/O sine oscillator if required. Synthrotek's DLY module rounds off the sound of the System 84. It's a versatile analog delay that delivers the warm analog sound of the popular vintage delay/echo effect devices.
Two modules are available to the Synthrotek MST System 84: the MST VC LFO and MST Noise, Sample & Hold, which can also be switched to Track & Hold. The signal applied to the input is stored at a certain time and output at the output until a new sample value is stored with the next clock pulse. Electronic beats get organic character through the uneven modulation with the MST Noise, Sample & Hold. However, rhythmic modulations are also possible due to the clock control.
The Synthrotek MST series is currently Synthrotek's premium module line. It consists of various modules for the Eurorack and was developed by Synthrotek in collaboration with synthesizer pioneer George Mattson.
