Big Muff Pi 2 with Tone Wicker circuit: op-amp fuzz with an extended sound spectrum
The Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi 2 with Tone Wicker expands the classic op-amp Big Muff sound with additional tonal flexibility and an extended frequency spectrum. In addition to the typical rich Sustain and solid fuzz gain, the TONE bypass switch for an unfiltered full-range sound and the three-stage WICKER switch for more brilliance and assertiveness in the treble range. The familiar operation via volume, tone and sustain controls is retained, while the combination of classic muff sounds and extended sound options makes the pedal interesting for both traditional and modern fuzz applications. The pedal is based on a never-published circuit design by EHX co-founder Bob Myer from the late 1970s, which was only rediscovered decades later in his archive. After reconstructing the hand-drawn original schematics, an independent Big Muff was created, which clearly stands out from known versions in terms of sound.
