The Gibson J-45 Century 12-Fret Vintage Amber at a glance
With the Gibson J-45 Century 12-Fret Vintage Amber, US guitar maker Gibson has given the round-shoulder workhorse, which has now been established for over 80 years, an extremely interesting variation of the basic model. The acoustic guitar, which has been built in a 14-fret design since its creation in 1942, is now also available as a 12-fret version as part of the series and benefits from its special construction both in terms of sound and feel. Naturally, Gibson provides every J-45 12-fret guitar from the new Century Collection with an exclusive hardshell case in a timelessly elegant tweed look.
The Gibson J-45 Century 12-Fret Vintage Amber is an interesting variation of the successful model for fingerpickers.
Sitka Spruce & Mahogany
As with the classic model, the Gibson J-45 Century 12-Fret also features the classic round-shoulder design and relies on a classic tonewood combination. The flat-top model features a solid Sitka spruce top for a radiantly clear overtone spectrum, which is complemented by the warm, mid-range sound of the solid mahogany body. By moving the neck transition to the 12th fret, the rosewood bridge is moved deeper into the body, giving the instrument its unique response for J-45 models, which is especially fun for fingerpickers.
Traditional Gibson appointments
The hardware appointments of the Gibson J-45 Century 12-Fret Vintage Amber also remain true to its American roots. A saddle and a bridge inlay made of real bone ensure the most direct possible resonance transfer to the slim taper mahogany neck and the rosewood bridge. In addition, six bridge pins made from GraphTech's proprietary TUSQ material are used. The equipment is completed by authentic "3-on-a-Plate" tuners with cream buttons, which not only give the J-45 Century 12-Fret absolute tuning stability, but also its iconic headstock look.
