With the Safari Audio Zebra Clipper , you get a creative clipper plug-in that can do far more than just clip peaks. It combines precise clipping, targeted harmonic enrichment and a pleasantly intuitive interface to give drums, bass, vocals or entire buses greater density, loudness and presence. Whether you simply want to add a touch of warmth or deliberately make a signal harder, more aggressive and grippier – Zebra Clipper provides you with the right tools for the job in a clearly structured interface.
Clipping is one of the most effective methods for taming transients whilst simultaneously extracting more presence and energy from a signal. This is exactly where Zebra Clipper comes in. Rather than simply limiting the signal technically, the plug-in actively shapes the sound and introduces additional harmonics. This is particularly useful for drums, 808s, bass, synths, vocals and mix buses, where the aim is not only to control peak levels but also to create more body and character.
Analogue for a warm, vintage character
Analogue mode is designed for a softer, more musical clipping character. It is particularly well suited when a signal needs to be made denser and fuller without immediately sounding harsh or digital. Especially with drums, bass or groups, this style can deliver more warmth and classic punch.
Modern for precise digital clipping
Modern mode operates in a more direct and controlled manner. When it comes to clean peak control, increased loudness and a modern, tight edge, this mode is particularly effective. This makes it an excellent choice for contemporary productions where punch and precision are paramount.
Round for gentle saturation
With Round, Zebra Clipper takes a rounder, smoother approach. This style is ideal if you want harmonic compression and musical saturation without the signal becoming too harsh or biting. Vocals, melodic buses and softer synth sounds benefit from this in particular.
As well as the clipping styles, Zebra Clipper also features two particularly exciting sound tools. The Sub Boost delivers more low-end punch and foundation without making the mix sound muddy straight away. This is a real bonus, particularly for kick drums, bass and 808s. Added to this is the Mojo control, which brings additional harmonic richness and character to the signal. This allows you to make the sound not only louder, but also more lively and interesting.
With Drive, you can push the signal deeper into the processing and create rougher, grittier textures as required. The Clip Amount control lets you determine how intensely the clipping should be applied. And with the Mix control, you can seamlessly blend the processed and unprocessed signals. This means that Zebra Clipper isn’t limited to radical processing, but also works superbly for more subtle parallel processing.
Zebra Clipper is clearly designed to deliver immediate results. Instead of getting lost in complicated menus, you’ll quickly get to grips with the most important sound-shaping tools. This is precisely what makes the plug-in particularly attractive to producers and mixing engineers who need to make quick decisions whilst still being able to shape the sound precisely. From subtle thickening to aggressive drum crunch, there’s a great deal you can achieve here.
