1010 Music's Bento combines a convenient sampler with an easy-to-use sequencer. The compact device is a mobile all-in-one sampling production lab with a focus on professional performance tools. Bento is capable of looping audio material live , starting clips in parallel and sequencing the synthesizer setup; all at the same time, of course! The 7" touchscreen is Bento's central control element. The pre-selection of what you want to do is made with the labeled buttons underneath; the endless encoders automatically adapt to the actions on the touchscreen. The 16 pressure-sensitive pads are used to program dynamic rhythms, enter MIDI notes and set triggers to play samples. The excellent 24-bit AD/DA converters ensure a studio-grade sound. A total of 8 tracks are available to which you can assign various tasks such as loop, granular, multisample, slicer or external MIDI tracks. There is an effects section for the audio tracks with delay, reverb, chorus, flanger, Phaser or Overdrive algorithms. In addition, the level, pitch, panorama, FX sends and modulation can be freely adjusted. Internal resampling of individual tracks and the master output have also been considered. This allows you to further develop sounds and Loops without having to do without a feature of the effects section. Anyone who has already worked with current grooveboxes will quickly get to grips with Bento. The sequencer works scene-based and can be programmed in the classic TR manner, using piano roll or trigger probability. Rigid sounds are alien to Bento: the extensive modulation system consisting of LFOs, envelopes and a step sequencer provides plenty of movement if required. For recording Loops and One shots, Bento provides various options such as clock sync, audio level threshold or defining the recording length to get results quickly. For User who like to overlay dub recordings, the device is also a perfect companion. Even as a pure recording device or for a DJ mix, Bento cuts a fine figure as recordings of up to 4 hours in length are possible. Bento comes with 155 patches and over 5,000 sample files to get you started straight away. The microSD card can be used to store (almost) unlimited additional projects.
